Advanced illumination (Ai) has Introduced its New BL245 Series of UltraSeal Wash-Down Backlights

R.J. WILSON, INC. IS EXCITED TO INTRODUCE A NEW WASH-DOWN BACKLIGHTING SOLUTION FROM ADVANCED ILLUMINATION THAT BREAKS NEW GROUND FOR DESIGN AND TECHNOLOGY.
A backlight is a common method of illumination for machine vision. Some operating environments, such as food and pharmaceutical production, rely on the use of high-pressure hoses and caustic cleaning solutions to maintain sanitary conditions, requiring the use of a backlight rated as “wash-down”, IP67, or IP69.

What Does the IP69k Rating Mean?

The primary benefits of a wash-down LED backlight are 1) minimizing the chance for any foreign material build-up between production runs that could cause cross-contamination and 2) ensuring that a high-pressure spray and potentially caustic cleaners can be safely used for wash-down. Up until now, these have been competing requirements, as the construction of most wash-down backlights involves the use of multiple bolts and gaskets to maintain the “wash-down” rating, often at the risk of creating new opportunities for material build-up and cross-contamination.

WITH THE INTRODUCTION OF AI’S ULTRASEAL BACK LIGHTS, THE CONCEPT OF “WASH-DOWN CAPABLE” HAS EVOLVED TO A NEW STANDARD, PROVIDING A COMPLETELY SMOOTH-BODIED SURFACE, SPECIAL IP69K SEALING WITHOUT USING ANY BOLTS, A GREATLY MINIMIZED OPPORTUNITY TO INTRODUCE CROSS-CONTAMINATION, AND FDA COMPLIANCE.
